Where It’s Going.

As I write this, Sunday Coffee Co. is in reality nothing more than a website, a garage, and a group of very supportive friends. But as an idea, it’s a lot more.

I imagine it as the ultimate guide for brewing coffee at home.

If you buy a bag of coffee from the grocery store, it’s up in the air whether or not you can make a good cup of coffee out of it. Not that the coffee itself is bad, but there are just a lot of factors that you just might not know about. For example, most people don’t know that you have to grind coffee differently for different brewing methods. If you bought pre-ground coffee with the label “espresso roast“ and tried to use it in a french press, it wouldn’t even be close to drinkable.

Most coffee brands roast great coffee and leave it up to you to figure out the rest. I’d like to be there for the whole process.

For example, my first roast which is called The Noriega is best brewed with the french press. I know this because I’ve tried it with just about every method there is, and the french press brings out the loveliest, most decadent notes of the coffee. Furthermore, I found that the ratio of of 40g coffee to 500g water had the best balance of flavor and intensity. I also found that you are going to want a very coarse grind if you plan on using the french press.

So now I can tell you; buy this coffee, brew it with this method, with this ratio and grind size. As a result, I can reasonably predict that you have an excellent cup of coffee in your hands.

That’s why it’s called Sunday Coffee Co. and not Sunday Coffee Roasters, because roasting the coffee is just the first step.
